We are excited to let you know of Japan MEXT scholarships offered exclusively to Pakistani students. The scholarship is designed to award Pakistani citizens the opportunity to study for a Master, MPhil, or Ph.D. degree at a Japanese University. For students enrolled at IBA in a doctorate program, this scholarship also provides an opportunity to undertake Research work (not leading to a degree) at a Japanese University.

The grant of this program will fund participant’s tuition, airfare, and a living stipend.

The application deadline is Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Introduction: The Japanese Government offers scholarships to international students who wish to study in graduate courses at Japanese universities as research students under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program for 2020.

Target Audience: Applicants can avail this scholarship for either a degree or non-degree program. The scholarship is applicable for:

1. The master level degree program
2. MPhil or Ph.D. level degree program
3. Research in a specialized field – this will be a non-degree program

Eligibility criteria:

1. Nationality:                            Must be Pakistan national
2. Age:                                         Must have been born on or after April 2, 1985
3. Academic Background:        Must be a graduate from a Japanese University or have academic ability equal to/ superior to that of a Japanese university graduate.

 Scholarship Coverage:

The scholarship shall cover:

1. Tuition fee
2. Visa expenses (if any)
3. International Travelling Cost (Pakistan to Japan and back)
4. Allowance to meet other needs

Documents Required:

Applicants must submit the following documents to the Japanese diplomatic missions before the deadline. The submitted documents will not be returned.

1. Completed Application Form for MEXT Scholarship 2020 (Application form is attached)
2. Field of Study and Research Program Plan (It is attached with this email)
3. Completed Comprehensive Mark sheet Form (It is attached with this email)
   • Abstract of previous research (if any)
   • Attested copy of transcripts and degree of the last university attended​Attestation by University, Gazetted Officer)

All required documents must be computer-typed and sent by post only. Shortlisted candidates will then be required to complete additional documentation.
